It’s time to revolutionise our approach to backlinks

Websites that are popular and have a lot of links shared on social media tend to perform well on the search engines. These sharing signals are picked up by the search engines which look at the links being shared to help assess the popularity of a webpage and whether it is authoritative. The three main pillars of Search Engine Optimization; content, links and site architecture will remain for years to come. Google has access to all this incredible data about where people go on the Internet through Chrome and through Android. The goal shouldn’t be to generate links, it should be to generate buzz or discussion; to share knowledge or data or other insights that we know our audiences (and prospecive customers) will find valauble. Mobile-first. It’s coming. And I still feel that a responsive website, in addition to all the AMP and so, is essential.

Create resources that people want

So first, what is SEO? It stands forSearch Engine Optimization, and it is basically a way of making your website easy to find by the search engines and the people who use them. And since so many people use Google and other search engines every day when they’re trying to find websites just like yours, that is why it’s so important to optimize your site so they can easily find you. You can speed up the process of getting useful links by connecting with content curators. Look for pages that have excessive links. Google advises 100 per page as a maximum, although it is OK to increase that on more important and heavily linked-to pages. Efficient content organization seeks to reduce, minimize, or eliminate unnecessary on-page elements without compromising the creator’s free expression. SEO must support the style of the content creator, not dictate it. SEO-friendly content writing is not just about pandering to your audience with content that is splattered with keywords.

Relevance is the key issue for SEO

Duplicate content can appear on a website for different reasons. Sometimes the same content is accessible and indexed under different URLs. This makes it difficult for search engines to determine the best search result among the different URLs. The result is “cannibalization” in the rankings. The website cannot appear in top rankings since Google is unable to choose the best version. One of the first steps you take in a social media marketing campaign is claiming and filling out your social profiles with information about your company from your name and type of business to your address and phone number. This is indexable content and it can indirectly help your local rankings; many third-party review sites mine social media profiles for local business information, which they then compile into entries on their site. Competitor analysis is nothing new, and companies have been researching their competitor’s links for years. However, by looking at the competitor’s backlinks and manually reviewing which links are worth having, you can then perform a link outreach and try to get a link from the same referring site. Are internal links as valuable as external links? Don't forget that search/internet marketing is multi-faceted. Traditional Marketing 101 teachers would say to build a comprehensive plan for marketing. Don't just work the online factors, but create a sound strategy around offline marketing, using ideas like postcards, trade magazines ads, phone/sales work, word of mouth and additional tactics that can help create a "buzz" around your products and services. Picking the right keywords to optimize for is very important. Usually, it’s a good idea to pick mid-tail keywords, including the local area you are focusing on.

Specialized Search Engines

Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant from SEO Hull, commented: "Don’t stuff content with keywords – it’s just awful to read. Yes, you’ll probably boost rankings for a short time, until Google blacklists you, and in the interim once you do get a potential customer on your site, they’ll click off within seconds. People buy from people – be natural, be engaging, be human." Do your maths - its one of the primary resources for this sort of thing. Its as simple as KS2 Maths. Really! RankBrain is Google's machine learning artificial intelligence system that's used to help provide the best search results for users. It auto updates itself and "learn's" from people's searches. If you make sure people want to visit your site, have great calls-to-action and prepare for mobile, you’re already on your way to a well-optimized website, the holistic way! Head terms are searched more frequently, have less words (3 or less in most cases) and are often much more generic and competitive as a result. Long-tail terms are longer phrases (commonly over 3 words) and more specific. While long-tail keywords are usually less popular, we can usually tell exactly what the searcher is after. Optimise your website content for the best organic reach possible.

It’s time to revolutionize our approach to backlinks

The bad news about SEO is that it’s not as simple as flicking a couple of switches. Nor is it a one-time deal; SEO has to be a consistent part of your ongoing marketing. There is also an overwhelming amount of information available online – how do you know where to begin? Sometimes you might spot a particularly juicy keyword when conducting your research. But just because a keyword has high volume, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be a good one to rank for. Ensure the number of new site visitors arriving via organic search is growing, month to month and year over year. For advanced users, the information an analytics package provides, combined with data from your server log files, can provide even more comprehensive information about how visitors are interacting with your documents (such as additional keywords that searchers might use to find your site). Nofollow links do not allowsearch engine bots to follow the link. That means if the website owner is linking back to you with Nofollow attributes, it does not pass on value from the source site. Only humans will be able to follow the links.

Rankings, On-page and Off Page SEO

Any discrepancies might cause Google to NOT show your business' information on a search result page. Off-page SEO factors are as important as on-page SEO factors. To have a successful SEO optimisation, both should be done. Earlier it was still easy to rank by building spammy links but, after the penguin and panda updates, its much difficult. Real SEO is all about helping Google understand the content of your website. It’s about steering, guiding and assisting Google. Not manipulating it. Excessive link exchange ("Link to me and I'll link to you") or partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking will negatively impact a website’s ranking in search results. How powerful is your domain name? How well does it rank in those all-important search engines? The measure of your domain name’s power is called “domain authority,” and it depends on three general factors: size, age, and popularity.
