Offsite references, reviews, and social links play a role in how your content performs on search engines. Inbound links to your site are still important, and so is a logical sitemap with internal linking among pages. Many of the top websites in various industries use keywords in their URLs, but others which don’t are still able to rank highly. Much as we now know that writing quality content is better than stuffing it with keywords, the same applies to creating quality URLs. In the end, it comes down to what makes sense for your brand and website. Since the ascent of Google as the world’s #1 search engine, links have been the primary concern of most SEO practitioners. Since Google is the number one search engine in the world, it is the leader in determining which websites are the most relevant for search words and terms. Every search engine gives different weights to these ranking factors which is why when you enter the same search term in different search engines you will generally get different results.

Don’t overstuff your page with keywords and phrases

While we all enjoy seeing the keywords rank well in the search engines, this doesn’t necessarily mean your SEO campaign is successful. People won't link to your content unless they see it. At the same time, you need the right people in front of your content; not everyone is a potential linker. The higher quality your content, the more beneficial your shared information, and the better your reputation increases the chances that you will be mentioned throughout a variety of platforms. The Google-led open source project AMP, or Accelerated Mobile Pages, has one goal: loading your pages as fast as possible A comprehensive keyword research enables you to discover which words work in your line of field and attract the most attention. It also provides you with opportunities to create new content or improvise your previous posts by including relevant keywords.

Backlinks that go deeper

So if a consumer hears a message somewhere and then decides to search on Bing to get more information, many times the advertiser isn’t present, and that consumer ends up taking a different path than what the advertiser would have desired. Increase visibility to new content you create by sharing it on social networks and building links to your content (both internally and from external sites). SEO-friendly URLs may not be the batter in the SEO cake mix, but they can be the frosting. Having an SEO-friendly URL is easy when using a management system, such as WordPress. You can read an offsite SEO beginners guide here. The thing is, in addition to Link Building and creating pathways to popular, informative parts of the Internet, you also need to build Back Links for Search Engine Optimization purposes. These are links going back to your website from outside websites; very similar to links going outward from your website, but not quite the same. Most SEO’s (and dare i say internet marketers) fall victim to optimizing too heavily for traffic, and not conversion.

Include bios of different staff at different locations

Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant from SEO Hull, commented: "In establishing domain names, you may come across articles, which may suggest not to make use of hyphens on them. You should become aware though that using hyphens on your domain name is not a bad practice. However, you should know that most people these days, are not used to typing domain names on their browsers that come with hyphens." A page’s speed is crucial, so don’t forget testing it from time to time. From heavy images to unnecessary scripts, there is always a reason that your site gets slow.. While many old-school SEOs believe that link building techniques are now largely ineffective (or at least less effective than they once were), links are still critical to getting high rankings. Does the content add an enormous amount of value or is it thin and veiled in an attempt to merely rank for a keyword? Is the content unique? You can't skimp on quality. Not today. When you delete a page (or post) from your site, you delete one or more URLs too. That old URL, when visited, will usually return a 404 not found error. But is that what you wanted? Maybe that page should be redirected somewhere.

What is SEO really about?

A great and fast way to convey your goal is by using headlines and taglines. Google pays attention to third-party expert testimonials from independent sources – reviews, references, news articles. Recommendations from professional societies, are strong evidence of very positive reputation. Company blogs have been proven again and again to do wonders for businesses. Among other things, having a company blog will improve your SEO and allows you to become seen as an expert in your field. SEO changes quickly. Information that was true six months ago, may not be true today. Start focusing on your visitors, on the people that want to buy your product or services.

Creativity takes courage

Segment your content - If you catch yourself writing a few monster paragraphs, cut them up into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Make sure you use headers, lists, and bullets when ever possible. Don't forget to add appropriate spacing. This strategy directly correlates with increased readability, and thus, linkability. It isn't just about the number of links that are going to a domain, but about the quality of those links. Unfortunately, this isn't something you can do quickly overnight. If you execute your keyword research properly, you’ll end up with a long list of search terms you want to be found for. Make sure to search for those terms in Google yourself. What results are there already? Who will be your online competitors for these search terms? What can you do to stand out from these results? Keyword research helps you identify keywords that appeal to a target audience and expand the reach of your content. When you use keyword research tools, it helps you identitfy what kinds of content users are looking for on any given topic. Always make sure to prioritize time for keyword research. With forinstance the rise of voice search, longer keyphrases become more and more common. Using a long keyphrase five times in your 300-word-article will look so unnatural, that it’s not a good practice at all, where using a certain keyword five times might fit there.
