If your website can't be found on Google, it basically does not exist. It is very important to be listed on Google if you want to get customers through the Internet. Is your article hiding among millions of others, difficult to find and not being read as a result? If it is, you’re not alone; great research can go relatively unnoticed if it’s not highlighted and indexed in the right way. Analyze search engine rankings and web traffic to determine the effectiveness of the programs you’ve implemented, including assessment of individual keyword performance. SEO can be a fuzzy concept that feels like more art than science. Don't let yourself be intimidated; it's easier than you think. On regular pages and posts, Google will most probably grab a piece of related content, including the keyword used in the search query. That makes a lot of sense for news sites, for example. Getting high-quality links from outside websites is key — especially if you can find a way to get .edu links. Google sees inbound links coming from websites ending in .edu as especially trustworthy. Today, and for the foreseeable future, SEO is much less about optimizing for specific keywords, and much more about technical issues, social signals, and the overall trustworthiness of a company and its website.

Be yourself and not your keywords

Text without headings is terrible to read. Headings and subheadings are the most important anchor points a reader has in the text. People tend to read those more carefully and use headings to determine what a text is about. Google has always encouraged webmasters to make their primary focus one of providing a good user experience. As the algorithm gets “smarter”, websites that do so are positioned to benefit the most. Your content can target any audience, but if it doesn’t sufficiently deliver the information that audience is seeking, you’re out of luck. Local search success can be achieved by SEO. Remember, it takes 20 years to build a reputation and only five minutes to ruin it. While there’s no denying the power of paid marketing channels such as Google AdWords, establish your organic presence and you will likely find your most profitable marketing channel.

LINKS are STILL the #1 driving factor behind rankings

Each piece of content targets a single keyword

At one time, directories like DMOZ were a good place to add listings and get backlinks. However, these large web directories aren’t really relevant anymore. Google is constantly evolving to better understand the context and intent of user behaviour. Review sites should also be considered in link building campaigns. These are the sites where your customers write about their experience with your products/services. Links on your page maybe internal—pointing to other pages on your site—or external—leading to content on other sites. In either of these cases, the better your anchor text is, the easier it is for users to navigate and for Google to understand what the page you're linking to is about. In short, Google is looking for signs of quality, relevance and great design. At the end of the day, Google does not care about you as a content creator. You are not Google’s customer! Google’s customer is the end user who searches for a keyphrase because they want to get relevant information or find the answer to a question.

Long tail keywords are essentially longer more specific keywords that tie in directly to your content. For example, if you are selling woman’s shoes on your eCommerce website. The main keywords would likely be: “ladies shoes”, “woman’s shoes”, “girls shoes” and other similar words. Every piece of content should have the user in mind. This also applies to SEO. You can’t create your next piece of content, or carry out keyword research, without knowing your audience. Good SEO means forgetting SEO and concentrating on your user then. And it also means forgetting SEO in that you are going to be trying to merge your different marketing strategies in order to create one bigger approach. It means trying to write amazing posts and share them on SEO so that you get more links and it means writing great content that keeps people on your page longer. If you want your website to rank well and stay penalty-free, building new links is not enough. You need to take care of your backlink profile and disavow all the spammy links. Content Marketing involves creating and sharing content online such as blogs, videos, or social posts to create interest around your brand and business. While the way you craft your content and the copy of your website obviously have an affect on your SEO, it’s important not to forget about the quality and whether people will actually want to read/ watch what you have to offer.
